Videous Gaems

I, like many people, play video games. I put these in three categories: PvP games, art games, and coop games because I enjoy them for entirely different reasons.

PvP games

Here be fighting games. I am a huge fighting game dork. In no particular order, here are some favorite games and my mains.

Art Games

A lot of these I would not play again, and some of them I have only seen let's plays of or watched friends play but some of these have left very strong impressions on me and are some of my favorite part pieces ever. These are very definitely specifically in order.

Coop Games

sometimes it is just fun to have fun with friends. List unordered.

Games on my shit list

These games have earned a special place of ire in my heart for being unbelievably awful. List unordered because why even bother picking the worst of the worst.

• The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild -- this is not a game. this is a tech demo. there is nothing to do. AND it misleads you at every turn for what little content there IS. FUCK.
• Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance -- no dodge button in a spectable fighter 0/10
• Team Fortress 2 -- I guess if you LIKE aimless chaos in your PvP?
• Astral Chain -- bad controls, jerks off over immersion constantly, bro I just want to beat up cyber demons
• The Yakuza series -- Everything I hate in games. Unfocused, minigame-ridden garbage. Pick a lane and actually develop ONE game please.
• Pokemon Scarlet/Violet -- Technical massacre aside (that's its own rant), this game shits on a series I love by not only laser targeting itself at specifically what I want the series to NOT be, but also doing it BADLY and INDECISIVELY. If you don't want battles to be the focus of the game any more simply remove them, game freak. Don't be coward. By taking half measures and putting only some battles in and making most of them extremely optional, you lose out on a very important facet of game design: teaching through incremental difficulty. The absolute tragedy is this is my favorite generation for battle mechanics, especially including terastallization which is the only "mega evolution-like" I have remotely liked even a little bit, and I actually like it a lot! I think if they actually stuck with tera for another generation it could be perfect but they WON'T because they're BITCHES and AAAAA
• Every digital TCG -- my brother in christ you have the power of infinitely replicable cards and you choose digital scarcity what the capitalist fuck is WRONG with you

Card Grames

I like the games with the cards with the funny pictures and the words on them.

I have played Magic the Gathering since I was a wee child and love it dearly but I hate hasbros of the coast with a vengeance so I find funny alternative ways to play the game that does not funnel money to them. I am in my heart a temur player but that archetype gets no support so I kind of bounce around that side of the color pie.

Digimon TCG is super lit if only it weren't so expensive rip my wallet. I play a funny armor purge deck and all my friends hate it.

Lorcana is very cool I like it a lot, fuck disney tho. I haven't played too much yet but I am liking blue/yellow.

Tabletop RPGs

I have played the gamut of TTRPGs in my 15 years of playing. I have tried the sampler platter. And I have this to say, and only this: The rules don't matter. Stapling more rules on is a mistake. What you should be doing is stripping as many rules off as possible. DnD sucks, ESPECIALLY 5th edition. Just roleplay and pull out the dice when it's fun for there to be risk. That's all you need.
